Passionate – Dedicated – Professional
Founded in 1985 by Stephen Gregory-Jones and Warren Davis, Eastern Fighting & Healing Arts began with a mission to share practical, effective self-defence skills with the local community. From running classes in high schools to offering public and private lessons—especially in women’s self-defence—we have always focused on empowering individuals through knowledge and training.
Our journey started by drawing from diverse martial traditions, including Budokan, Shorin Ryu, Goshin Ryu, and Arjuken Karate. Guided by a passion for growth and discovery, we expanded our practice to include Tai Chi, Arnis, Judo, and beyond—absorbing what was useful, adapting where needed, and setting aside what no longer served our purpose.
Over time, our path has evolved to embrace the dynamic art of Silat, the traditional forms of Judo and Aiki-Jujutsu, as well as techniques from Kung Fu, Western Boxing, and Taiho Jutsu (Law Enforcement Jutsu). Today, our black belt instructors collectively hold senior ranks in Doce Pares, Hapkido, Karate, Aikido, Silat, and Judo, reflecting the depth and breadth of our knowledge.
At the heart of our practice lies a simple truth: anger, attitude, and ego are the greatest barriers to real learning and development. We encourage all who train with us to approach each session with openness, humility, and a positive spirit—because true martial arts is as much about personal growth as it is about technique.
